I'm packing again:
leaving this town again,
even though it is still in the midsts of the first.
I grab clothes from the closet,
fold-
and toss-
and squish.
I do so
so fast-
so quick-
it feels like I am fleeing.
Running from the terrors
on their way.
The ones
that will soon be at the door,
with their handcuffs and chains.
They'll hold me here-
and the thought-
I flee.
I make it to the door,
unlock it-
open it wide-
and find only myself,
reflected in the glass door;
no one beyond that.
And I shut it,
go back-
to pack-
and that is it.
