And that is it

And that is it

When you get up and leave-
before that:
everything is packed away.
In boxes, in foil, and crisp tissue paper.
Hidden away from prying eyes.
It is there-
in all that storage,
that you finally see you've got it,
things you've packed away,
you finally see you have it.
Everything you place
in hiding,
as you do the act
you suddenly see it as new again-
like a toy from childhood revisited,
and just as suddenly as it became new,
it becomes old,
and the weight of it drops it
out of your hands,
and into the yawning gap below.
You put on the lid,
and that is it.
